Doctor of Science, specialization in Physics
|The Joint Doctoral Program in Science with a specialization in Physics is a program that has been offered by the Department of Physics at the Technical University Federico Santa María (UTFSM) and the Institute of Physics of the Catholic University of Valparaiso (PUCV) since 2000. The PhD of Sciences program with a specialization in Physics at UTFSM dates from 1992.|

|Program Objectives: To train graduates able to perform original high level scientific research in order to contribute to the development of Physics internationally; and able to adapt to the demands of scientific and technological research in a high-technology company.|

|Graduate Profile: Our graduates will be able to conduct research individually and collaboratively, becoming experts in their fields of interest and motivation. The graduates will be able guide students in their own research topics.|
Possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, and undergraduate grades greater than or equal to 70 (on a scale of 0 to 100), or 5.0 (on a scale of 1 to 7). The applicant must submit a written request within the application deadlines each year, and in the process, take a knowledge test and have a personal interview. The applicant will be admitted to the program according to the assessment made by the selection committee.
